Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Classic Games

Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
